This year the WNY Section is hosting the Annual New York Upstate APA Chapter Conference.   The conference will be held at the Niagara Falls Conference Center in Niagara Falls, NY from Wednesday, September 22 through Friday September 24, 2010.  The theme of this year’s Conference is Transforming Communities.  The annual conference rotates among the Chapter’s five sections and gives us a prime opportunity to show off our region to professional planners from across the state.  It has been 20 years since the Conference has been held in Niagara Falls.  A lot has happened in the Cataract City since 1990, least of which include the state of the art conference venue, new hotels and a casino.

A little different than in years past, there will be a full compliment of sessions and mobile workshops offered Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning.  Registration will be flexible and allow full or part registration to meet busy schedules.  Thursday activities will run all day from keynote address in the morning through an evening reception off-site.  So save the date.

Slots are available for eighteen technical sessions and up to four mobile workshops.  The intent is for all technical sessions to be approved for Certification Maintenance (CM) credit by APA National.  A call for presentations is available here.

A Conference Planning Committee has been formed and met for the first time on January 12 for an organizational meeting.  This year’s Conference Co-chairs are Eve Holberg (peter j. smith & company) Rich Guarino (GBNRTC) and Gary Palumbo (American Consulting Professionals of NY).  To date, approximately twenty people have expressed interest in participating on the Conference Planning Committee.   Anyone interested in working on the Conference Planning Committee should feel free to contact Gary Palumbo at 362-1126 or by e-mail at:  gpalumbo@acp-ny.com.

All volunteers are welcome to help with tasks large and small!
